Hello! Thank you for clicking on this page!
I’ll keep it brief: I’m Maddy Cohen, a freelance writer and reporter with 7 years of experience covering video games and anime. I started as a list writer, moved to walkthrough guides, and stumbled into convention coverage. You can find my previous work on ScreenRant, CBR, ComicBook.com, and Gameranx.
Now, the long version: I decided to start this website because times are tough for (everyone) freelancers. Despite that, I continue to be offered some amazing opportunities such as premieres, hands-on previews, and press access at conventions.
After almost six months without a “home” for this coverage, I figured that I should just do it myself. One domain and five hours later, this website exists!
Two major factors went into this decision. First, I wanted whatever I post to be easily accessible. That means no paywalls and no involuntary subscriptions. I like money, but what’s the point if nobody can see my work?
Second, I wanted the freedom to write what I want. I love digging into the historical and cultural aspects of the media we consume. It’s especially interesting now as the global media landscape continues to change. I want to cover the latest anime news while also highlighting how societal norms impact media.
(Basically, nobody wanted my Lord of Mysteries coverage, so I’m doing it myself.)
Thank you for checking out my silly little website. Let’s see where this journey takes us.
